On October 5, 2018 Andrew Urdiales was sentenced to death five times for five (5) murders of young California women. The five sentences will run consecutively.
On November 5, 2018, it was announced that Urdiales was found dead in his San Quentin prison cell early Saturday morning, November 3, 2018. Prison officials do not know the cause of death, pending an autopsy. Prison officials are tentatively treating the death as a suicide.
Urdiales was a cowardly murderer, preying on eight helpless young women in total: he murdered three young women in Illinois. He was brutal and sadistic After the murders, as a final act of evil, he left the women in the open, subject to the elements and wild animals. No remorse, no quilt, no sorrow, no concern for his victims or for their loved ones.
His suicide was a coward’s way to die. May God damn Urdiales to an eternity in Hell.
Urdiales murdered our daughter, Robbin Brandley, on the evening of January 18. 1986, 32 years ago. They were strangers. Robbin was his first cowardly murder, he attacked her with a large knife, stabbing her in the back several times, then rolling her over to continue the vicious stabbing. He stabbed Robbin 46 times. Robbin had cuts on her hands, she fought to live.
I accuse Urdiales for murdering Genelle, who died on December 21, 2012. She dies on our son Jayeson’s 49th birthday, 26 years after the murder. During those years Genelle suffered fear, stress, anxiety, loneliness, tension, depression, despair — all extreme negative emotions that eventually brought on ovarian cancer. Through all this, Genelle became a champion, along with many, many others, of homicide survivors.
With Urdiales’ death, for me “its over, its done.” I believe Robbin and Genelle are together. I loved them so very much and miss them every day. I am lucky and blessed, I have my son Jayeson, his lovely wife and a great mother, Marlo, and three exceptional and gifted grand children, Jaclyn (24), Jay (19) and Sophea (18).
